Michelangelo Antonioni died Monday evening at the age of 94. His last cinematic release was 2004's The Dangerous Thread of Things, one part of a trilogy also featuring directors Wong Kar Wai and Steven Soderbergh, released under the title Eros. He gained two Oscar nominations and was awarded an honorary Academy Award for his life's work in 1995. Among his masterpieces: The red desert, The Adventure, the Eclipse and Blow-Up. Fans will be able to pay their respects in the Sala della Protomoteca at Rome's city hall, the Campidoglio, on Wednesday morning.
