"The Best of Youth" - 20 Italian first feature films from the new millenium

20 Italian first feature films from the new millenium The Best of Youth, a Filmitalia project realized in collaboration with Fabio Ferzetti, proposes a selection of first feature films by Italian directors from the year 2000 up to the present time, to be presented internationally, telling stories of our country seen through the eyes of a generation. This film series is made up of 20 first features representing our young and at the same time auteur cinema.
"The Best of Youth" is a travelling film series which will be hosted in Brussels during Europalia, an event sponsored by the European Community in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels and Sintesi Europa. Following this presentation, the film series moves on to Buenos Aires where it will be featured during the Week of Italian Cinema (November 20-25th) an event organized by Filmitalia for Italy’s Ministry of Welfare and Culture in collaboration with INCAA, Malba, Istituto Luce and Cinecittà Holding.
A prestigious bilingual volume (italian/english) edited by C.P. Company in collaboration with Fabio Ferzetti, featuring stories told by the directors themselves on how they came to making their first feature.
"The Best of Youth" at the John Cabot University A film series of 7 first feature films by Italian directors.
In the meantime Filmitalia has organized an original launch for this project : thanks to the collaboration of the John Cabot University in Rome, an American university founded in 1972 and situated in the heart of Trastevere, a series of 7 films will be screened in their original language with English subtitles.
The series kicks off Monday, September 24th with the film “ Lacapagira” , a cult movie made in 2000, filmed in Bari dialect at 7.30pm in the University’s Aula Magna with director Alessandro Piva, and the two main protagonists, Dino Abbrescia and Paolo Sassanelli in attendance. Irene Bignardi, the President of Filmitalia and Franco Pavoncello, the President of John Cabot University will make their introductions prior to the screening. a screening will be held in the University’s Aula Magna which include la serata un’introduzione del Presidente della John Cabot Franco Pavoncello e della Presidente di Filmitalia Irene Bignardi.
Each month there will be a screening in the University’s Aula Magna of 6 other Italian titles from this series; Almost Blue, Giorni, I nostri anni, L’uomo in più, Velocità massima, Private. The Best of Youth – The Program
