The Hungarian audiences favourite Italian film this year at the MittleCinemaFest was Daniele Luchettis My brother is an only child. An unprecedented success for Italian cinema at the MittelCinemaFests 5th edition which took place in Budapest Nov 6- 15, 2007 and was successful in drawing a very large audience of mostly young and very young spectators. Other films on the programme included, the Unknown by Giuseppe Tornatore, Night Bus by Davide Marengo, Ballroom Dancing by Claudio Antonini, Desert Roses by Mario Monicelli, Salty Air by Alessandro Angelini, Red like the Sky by Cristiano Bortone, In memory of me by Saverio Costanzo, Saturno contro by Ferzan Ozpetek and Flying Lessons by Francesca Archibugi. Lucchettis film, My Brother is an only Child was the festivals closing screening and was attended by actress Diane Fleri. Mario Monicelli was the festivals guest of honor. A retrospective paying tribute to his work was scheduled for December 6-19, 2007. Tornatore, Ozpetek and Luchettis films have already found Hungarian distributors. A drawing was announced to select a winner among those who had voted for the favourite film, to attend the premiere screening in Rome for Leonardo Pierraccionis Una Moglie bellissima, to be released in Italian theatres by mid December. Meanwhile,The MittelCinemaFest event moved on to Poland with screenings in Krakow, and then to the Ceckoslovakian capital, Bratislava.
