Karlovy Vary Film Festival

Tomorrow the 43rd edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival kicks off (July 4-12,2008). Eleven titles will represent Italy, a varied and large selection of films which include first features as well as films by already Internationally established authors, which signify Italian cinema’s excellent bill of health. In competition we find, Il mattino ha l’oro in bocca, directed by Francesco Paterno, who participated at Karlovy Vary in 2003, with his film Pater Familias; Presented in the Open Eyes section are Gomorra by Matteo Garrone and Il Divo by Paolo Sorrentino, while Silvio Soldini’s Days and Clouds, Andrea Molaioli’s The Girl by the Lake, and Salvatore Mereu’s Sonetaula will be presented in the section Horizons and Riprendimi by Anna Negri will be screened in the section Forum of Indipendents. A special programming reserved for Fabrizio Bentivoglio’s Lascia perdere, Johnny! which is featured in the prestigious Variety Critics' Choice.
Three Co-productions: Lorna's Silence by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, Three Monkeys by Nuri Bilge and La Duchessa di Langeais by Jacques Rivette.
Francesco Patierno, Elio Germano, Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Matteo Garrone, Andrea Molaioli, Salvatore Mereu and Anna Negri will make up the Italian delegation participating at Kalovy Vary.
