Three Italian films and a co-production to represent Italy at the 21st edition of the Tokyo International Film Festival (October 18-26 ). Selected for the International Competition is Gianni De Gregorio’s Pranzo di Ferragosto, film revelation at this year’s Venice Film Festival, produced by acclaimed director Matteo Garrone who will be attending the Festival also for Gomorra presented in the section World Cinema. Also to be presented in the World Cinema section is the co production (Italy/Turkey) Three Monkeys by director Nuri Bilge Ceylan. Finally, in the section Natural TIFF: Living with Nature, dedicated to films and documentaries whose themes involve man, nature and ecology ( this edition of TIFF will actually feature a “green carpet”), will present Biùtiful cauntri, documentary by Esmeralda Calabria, Andrea D’Ambrosio and Peppe Ruggiero, focused on the toxic waste problems in the Campania region. Again this year, artistic director Yoshi Yatabe joined forces with Filmitalia who organized the selection of Italian titles considered for this year's edition.
