We Can Do That by Giulio Manfredonia returns a winner from the 12th edition of the Shanghai International Film Festival as a winner, where it received the Jin Jue Award for Best Screenplay. The SIFF along with Pusan, is the most significant film festival in all of Asia. This year’s prestigious jury presided by Danny Boyle gave the Best Screenplay award to Fabio Bonifacci and Giulio Manfredonia’s because they felt that it was a screenplay which documented with “ with and clarirty - a true story of the way political philosophy can intersect with social need and build something truly transforming” Giulio Manfredonia who was in Shanghai to pick up the award, was part of the large Italian delegation of directors and actors invited to Shanghai to present their films. It is the highest recognition given to an Italian film at SIFF, a sign of the increasing interest and attention shown each passing year for Italian cinema. Indeed, besides We can do that, the Festival presented a total of twelve Italian films: La strategia degli affetti by Dodo Fiori in competition, 6 titles in Panorama (Galantuomini, Io sono viva, Machan, Pranzo di Ferragosto, Un giorno perfetto, Puccini e la fanciulla) and a focus on the young Italian stars with five films (Colpo d’occhio, I demoni di San Pietroburgo, Il papà di Giovanna, Riprendimi and Parlami d’amore). The participation of the Italian delegation in Shanghai was organized by Cinecittà Luce – Filmitalia in partnership with Italian Trade Commission and support of the Ministry of foreign affairs.
