The 14th edition of "Open Roads: New Italian Cinema", a major showcase of contemporary Italian cinema returns in June to Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theater.
Sixteen features which include three documentaries and six first features, two major winners beginning with Sacro Gra recipient of the Golden Lion in Venice and TIR winner of Golden Marco Aurelio in Rome, both films, like L'Amministratore by Vincenzo Marra, sharing common ideas, where documentary and video art find a magical understanding, films which move forward like a documentary with existential scenes from films represent the new Italian cinema.
Open Roads is organized by the prestigious Film Society of Lincoln Center in partnership with Istituto Luce Cinecittà, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of New York, Italian Trade Commission, Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimò and the ACP Group.
This event which brings a wide selection of the latest and most significant Italian productions to New York will take place June 5th through June 12th, eight whole days of Italy’s latest productions at the Walter Reade Theatre.
The Open Roads 2014 programme curated by Film Society Program Director Dennis Lim, NYU alumni, former Village Voice film editor as well as regular contributor to the New York and Los Angeles Times has made one of the most interesting and complete selections in recent years to include four daily screenings of the sixteen films. An announcement will follow with the names of those who will make up this year’s Italian delegation in New York to present their films on stage, since the series began back in 2001, there have been over 200 artists from Italian Cinema on hand to present their films to the New York audience.
