Tony is a professional singer also known as Antonio Pisapia, born in Naples on August 15, 1934. He has namesake, Antonio Pisapia, a professional footballer, born in Narni Scalo on August 15, 1949. Although they share the same birthday, Tony and Antonio have nothing in common. We first encounter Tony and Antonio in 1980, at the height of success in their respective professions. Unfortunately it does not last. Tony seduces an underage girl and is accused of rape, Antonio tears a ligament in a game qualifying his team for Uefa cup and has to give up his career. Fast-forward to 1984: Tony has been found not guilty but he is unable to regain his former glory, and makes a living singing at various provincial fairs and gatherings. Antonio has become a football coach but he simply cannot fit in anywhere. One day the two men meet and share experiences and life stories without ever speaking: the surrender of one means the redemption of the other.
