A view of contemporary Italy, centred on the antagonism between North and South. An attempt to show in the most amusing and diplomatic way, the real or possible consequences of such regional prejudices. The main characters perfectly illustrate their origins. For example, the Neapolitan playboys and their foreign women, the Tuscan model, the film producer from the Marche region, the Calabrian butcher, the Sicilian waiter, customers from every region and finally the Roman civil servants and the Milanese manager. Giordano, a poor carpenter, who lives an existence between that of a philosopher and a tramp, pacifies relations among the characters and with his wisdom, indicates the right direction to take.
