Made together with the students attending the film school Bobbio ("Fare cinema"), directed by Bellocchio, Sorelle is divided into three different episodes from the same story, filmed in three different moments, 1999, 2004 and 2005. The story spins around a girl called Elena, her mother Sara, Giorgio's sister, and their troubled relationship. Elena lives with her aunts in Bobbio, since her mother, an actress, is always away on some tour. But Sara has not abandoned her daughter and she goes back as often as possible, just as her brother does, but for different reasons. Until one day Sara decides that Elena should live with her in Milan, which means that Elena must leave her aunts and the little town. Perhaps forever.
