Gaetano and Delia meet for dinner to discuss the terms of the holiday break of their children. The meal immediately becomes a wide reflection of the past 10 years which led this separated couple to the sad, but realistic point. Throughout several flashbacks, we see the two recount their past, from good times to bad. We witness the early days of their relation, through a series of deep conversations and passionate lovemaking. As they continue talking, the downward slide of their relation is revealed: we see Gaetano degrade more and more into an uncaring father and an insensitive and rude husband. A heated exchange seemingly miraculously is morphed into an honest reflection of a true past love, which faced the common tragic effects of time, selfishness, and insecurity, but was rooted in the best of intentions. It’s clear for the first time in the present day, that these two were truly in love. Even though they are still trying to start new lives, the wounds are still fresh enough to not get over their life together. As a matter of fact, at the end of the encounter, a new dawn gives way to new hope for Delia and Gaetano, sealed even with kiss between the two. We close on Gaetano leaving back to his own residence, only to assume that whether or not there is another chance for these two.
