Venice: a city of gondolas, canals and inexorably sinking palaces, where tourists come and locals go. The re-sident population of the city has now dropped to below 50,000 inhabitants: there are fewer locals than daily visitors.
There is a parallel world where the real Venetians hold their ground. Here, the teenagers of this strange com-munity that lives on the water find their own path to adulthood. They use the Motorboat (il Barchino). Like the city dwellers’ Vespas and scooters, the kids pimp up their boats, customizing them with dazzling LED lights and powerful stereo systems and souping up their engines to a stunning horsepower so they can race across the Lagoon and live out their adolescent dreams freely.
These kids are our main characters: these kids who speed their boats across the Lagoon in illegal races. Two of them will risk their lives for a girl, flying over the water towards the heart of Venice, the Serenissima, chased by the police.
